The Academy for Canoe Development is located in a Game reserve, it is on the banks of the Roodeplaat dam, and the average depth of the dam is 18 meters. The altitude is about 1200m and the temperature ranges between 22 C in the winter and 35 C in the summer. Roodeplaat is one of the most wind still dams in South Africa.
The training facilities consist of a 2000m, 8 lane sprint course and a perimeter distance of 22km.
It is a 45 minute drive from OR Tambo International airport and a 15 minute drive from Pretoria and the nearest big shopping mall is 10 minutes away.
